. I am Paid ... ... to Eat! .

Haha..had the best job ever in the world..i was paid to translate, but i think i ate more than i translated!

:D

Ifti, a fren whom i know 2 yrs back, introduced me to this tranlator job at the Fine Food Exhibition for 2 days (today and yesterday). forgot to bring my bread yesterday morn, n i tot i had to spend money on lunch and dinner...but oh mi god...i 'tasted' so much food!!

nv had sooooo much ice-cream in 2 days...lemme try to recall wad flavours i have had...hmmm....

mango x 2
cafe x 2
donnatela
watermelon
pineapple
cape byron's pecan caramel
roche
mandarin
honey poeky
movenpick's caramel
choco
tortufo
crunchie ice-cream
etc etc etc...

that's all i can rem for ice-cream..

as for food...mmm...countless~!

byron bay's cookies (yummiest cookie i ve ever eaten!)
this smoked fish
many chicken nuggets
chco and caramel fudge
nudie
this authentic mango juice (ifti and i love this man!)
jelly thingy frm taiwan
tapioca chips dipped in mango chutney sauce ( i like the sauce :) )
pineapple chips (nice~~~)
apple chips
springroll
pudding
soursop / chrysanthemun / wintermelon / aloe vera (sharon's stall)
etc etc etc...

yeah, did i mention...sharon has been working at this stall at this exhibition since monday..she will be working till tmr..which means she is skpping this whole week's class...woahhh...dun think i can afford to do tat...so i only worked 2 days...hmmm...which reminds me..arent int'l students meant to only work 20 hrs each week? cos thats the reason y ifti cldnt assign me to work for 3 days, as that wld exceed 20 hrs...

well well, not that im complaining...2 days' work oredi add up to more than $250! yay!! but guess wad ? i ve spent $100 on Singapore Food Industries' paste!!!! laksa, mee siam, mee rebus, curry fish head sauce, satay, curry chicken sauce, pulut hitam, sambal etc etc..oh man...imagine how many packets i ve bot..but of cos im not gonna have everything..am gonna be a santa claus for paste!!! wahahahahah....yeah..gonan distribute most of them to frens, and gonan cook and invite frens over for dinner....

hahahaha...arent u guys honoured to be my frens? hehz ;p

okie..lemme go to the part when i wa working..hahah

was assigned to this booth..China Green Foods ... this distributor in China who imports/exports fruits/veggies/nuts/seeds/beans etc etc...and know wad...all their 30 over varieties of samples were all confiscated by the customs at the airport..poor thing...which meant we cldnt promote much at our booth..which is good and bad (for me) in some sense! haha..bad for the company, but gd for me, cos i din have to promote much!

ah well...was fun..din do anything much except to translate some conversation between my 'boss' - Ge Qing Hua and any interested 'ang moh' clients who dun speak and understand mandarin...wasnt a very difficult job...but i realise im not a good translator...chinese has deproved alot..cldnt even rem how to write 'tai4 guo2's' 'tai4'..very malu lor!!!

talked to a few ppl/clients/a fren (irene's fren who worked in Simplot Food)...cool...learnt some useful tips...established some contacts oso...hehz

byron was with me the whole day today...so glad he went..cos he managed to do some market research and got a few tips from Mr Ge...they mgt do some joing venture thingy..hmmm..sounds interesting...byron and i were basically chatting abt the ideas we have for businesses...very interesting..and yeah, i seriously wun mind spending my summer hols in the countryside to help him ... so cool..its nice to stay away from ths city for a while...but then again, not tat clayton is not ulu enuff...hahahah

well well..after working for the 2 days..i really dun wish to go back to a student's life of mugging...and mugging and mugging..sigh :(

byron made me so excited abt working life tat i wish im graduating end of the yr...oh well...too bad for me...

was glad tat i took up the job offer..and many thanks to ifti who recommended me the job..have asked ifti regarding the internship at ACIL...cos i wanna get a part-time job next sem...he said he will recommend me the job if he's still there at the end of the yr...heh :) nice fellow!

the 1st day i was working (yesterday) ... it just reminded me of the times when i worked at suntec convention centre for Tempur - the expensive pillows and mattresses (the cheapest pillow was $186) ... the feeling just came back to me..like i was in suntec, and i cld just catch bus 16 to go back home after work...so familiar yet so not...

i miss hm....

:(

yepz, i did miss some classes to work, but nope, i definitely dun regret working..not only for the money....but oso for the food (haha!!!) and most imptly, for the lessons/tips etc i ve learnt during the 2 days...

and yeah...2 lessons learnt today with ifti:

1) Do Not Jaywalk
we saw a gal knocked down by a truck at the juntion of blackburn and wellington this morn on our way to work..poor thing..she was lying unconsciously on the road ..and ifti saw everything live...i only saw the part where she fell on the grd..poor thing...yeah, think she jaywalked..

2) Do not Act Smart
hahah...byron and ifti will understand this...

okie...gotta go now...going late night shopping at burwood kmart and coles...

signing off....
