I am extremely furious and irritated with the whole NUS system. So if you r a friggin NUS student, and damn friggin proud of your uni, Get off my blog now!!!!
U call a uni without flexibiility one of the top few unis in the world? wad the heck is this man.
I am finishing my degree in 6 mths' time and would like to enrol in NUs for Honours in Psychology. Emailed the admissions department and got the following reply from Mary Chua:
Dear Janelle,
Thank you for your interest in our university.
Admission to the Honours year will be considered on a case-by-case basis. You may apply for admission under Category E when we invite applications for the next Academic Year 2005-2006 from 1 February to 1 March 2005, by submitting an online application through our website at http://www.nus.edu.sg/admissions/undergrad/apply/ with supporting documents/transcripts from Monash university to support your request for direct admission to the Honours year.

So excitedly, I tot I wld be able to enrol when application starts TODAY. i called the admissions office yesterday, and asked where i can d/l the friggin online form.
The guy requested me to forward him the email and he will get back to me.
But nope! no emails from him until I was a little impatient, and decided to call the office back. Told the lady my concern and she told me, 'oh ya, we know you enquired abt the honours course, but sorry, there is no way u can gain entry to straugh honours. u have to start either from yr 2 or yr 3, depending on the subjects u have done.'
And she kept cutting my line off!!! keep interrupting me when i was talking, and even transferred me to another officer without even asking me 1st!
So this other lady spoke to me, and told me 2 rules / policy of NUS that PISS ME OFF BIG TIME!!!!
1) The min. no. of yrs for studies in NUS is 2 yrs, and this has been agreed by ALL faculties. WAD THE FUCK is this man. there is no course that is 1 yr, which means, i have to start from yr 2 or yr 3.
2) THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS CREDIT TRANSFER IN NUS. this is seriously the worst every policy i ve ever heard in my whole life. This implies tat, if i wanna grad with honours, I HAVE TO FRIGGIN START FROM YEAR ONE, regardless of my qualifications in another uni. Be it masters or wadever i ve attained in any foreign uni!
EXCUSE ME, IF YOU HAVE DONE UR RESEARCH PROPERLY, THERE ARE SO MANY FRIGGIN COURSES IN OTHER UNIS THAT ARE MUCH MORE QUALIFIED THAN THOSE MASS-PRODUCED DEGREES IN NUS!!!! MIND U, PSY IN MONASH IS SO MUCH MORE REPUTABLE THEN THE FRIGGIN NUS PSY DEGREE!!!
i am utterly disappointed in this uni system with no flexibility at all. no other qualifications are deemed as prestigious as ur NUS degree. WAD THE FUCK. u think u r so friggin great that no one else in the world is better than u! self-proclaimed intellects with rigid rules and regulations!
arrogants with the nose high up on the sky. i hope they get hooked and ripped ur nose off~~~!!!
i am pissed and pissed and pissed and pissed and pissed.
i am incredibly ashamed to admit that i am a singaporean, with so many fellow singaporeans who look up to NUS as the leading institution in Singapore!
there goes my dream of graduating with honours. but well, even if NUS INVITES me to join their honours programme now, NO WAY that im gonna be any part of this unreasonable dictatorship regime.
i am ASHAMED OF the tertiary education system in SINGAPORE!
SHAME ON U!
